COIR HUSK BEING WASHED IN SRI LANKA

For years the coconut tree has played many industries and in many cultures around the world.  It is called the Tree of the Heavens in some cultures and the Miracle Tree in others.  It gets this name due to the fact that each part of the tree can be useful.  From the roots to the trunk, the husk to the nut, the fruit to the milk and the fiber to leaves.

Now after many years of research and practical experence it is becoming wildly known that coir can be useful to a wide variety of horticulturalist including:

Commercial Growers

Commercial Propigators

Gardeners

Indoor Gardeners

Orchid Growers

Tropical Plant Enthusiast to name a few.

Bigbadflower.com has partnered with Riococo brand coir to bring you products that are safe to use and will help you grow healthy, high-quality tropicals, orchids, vegetables, bedding plants, as well as many other ornamental and flowering and non-flowering plants.

Coir products from Riococo and Bigbadflower are:

1.)  Uniformed and consistent.  (There will be no issues with EC or pH.)

2.)  Organic.  Many of the products are approved for organic use by OMRI.

3.)  Sustainable.  (As they can be.  Coir is shipped in from various parts of the world, so the carbon footprint is not zero, but coir does offer many environmental advantages of peat-moss and plastic products.)

How to use Coir based products versus other similiar Gardening Products?

Coir 4 and 1/4 inch pots - Use these pots just like you would any other pot.  Except when it is time to plant (in a landscape, garden or container garden) simply plant the entire pot.  This will reduce waste and decompose nicely over time.

Coir Bricks/Coir Blocks - 1/2 Mesh Coir Bricks (yeilds enough coir for 2 Six in Pots (about 2 gallons)) and 10lb Coir Block (yields approx 2.5 cubic feet) are perfect for use as a stand alone potting soil for germination, propigation and young plants (like you will receive from Bigbadflower.)  Simply put the bricks in a bucket, add water and watch them expand.

Green Starter Bags - Green Starter Bags are ready to go container gardens!  Ideal for 1-2 plants, simply open the bag and pour in water.  The coir will expand in the bag.  After the coir has exanded simply cut drain wholes in the corners of the bag allowing excess water to drain thru.  After you add your fertilizer, the bag is ready to go.  (Perfect for indoor vegetable gardening and hydroponics.)

Flower Disc - Compressed disc are the engineered to fit directly into a 6 inch (1 gallon) flower pot.  This product is perfect for plants that like well draining soils (bouganvillea) and hydroponically grown plants.  Simply put the disc in the plant and add water.
